This meeting was focused on the Protected Areas Thematic Network that is one of one of the six thematic networks of IABIN. IABIN's six thematic areas are:

1. Specimens
2. Species
3. Ecosystems
4. Invasive Species
5. Pollinators
6. Protected Areas

The objectives of this workshop on the IABIN Protected Areas Thematic Network (PA TN) were to a) identify potential stakeholders groups b) inventory current initiatives, programs, and information systems related to Protected Areas, c) discuss how IABIN could add value to these initiatives d) identify potential NGO partners, and e) solicit background information that might be pertinent to the IABIN Protected Areas Thematic Network.
